RedHawks Continue Road Trip at EKU Saturday Afternoon

SATURDAY: Miami travels to take on the Eastern Kentucky Colonels on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 3 p.m. The Red and White enter this game with an 9-0 record, its best start to a season since the 1995-96 season. With a win on Saturday, the RedHawks have a chance to match their best start to a season in program history at 10-0 (1917-18 and 1943-44). Miami ranks among the top of the nation in numerous statistical categories heading into this game, which includes being fifth in the country in effective field goal percentage (0.615), seventh in scoring margin (25.8), seventh in field goal percentage (52.5), seventh in scoring offense (94.8), 15th in threes per game (11.2), 16th in free throw percentage (78.3), 19th in three-point percentage (39.6), 25th in bench points per game (35.89) and 30th in defensive rebounds per game (29.00).
ABOUT EASTERN KENTUCKY: Eastern Kentucky is currently 3-7, as the Colonels most recently defeated IU East 122-67 last Saturday and Eastern Illinois 68-59 this past Wednesday night. Eastern Kentucky went 18-14 (12-6 ASUN) last year. Head coach A.W. Hamilton is in his eighth season with the Colonels. Heading into the 2025-26 season, Eastern Kentucky was selected to finish third overall in the 2025-26 Atlantic Sun Preseason Men's Basketball Coaches Poll. Graduate Student forward Montavious Myrick was named to the Preseason All-ASUN Team.
Sophomore guard Juan Cranford Jr. (12.7/game), redshirt sophomore Austin Ball (11.3/game), senior guard Turner Buttry (10.3/game) and Myrick (10.4/game) all lead the Colonels with double figures in scoring. Both freshman guard MJ Williams and Myrick have recorded the most assists (3.0/game). Myrick is also the current leader in rebounds (7.1/game), steals (1.9/game) and blocks (0.9/game).Â
THE SERIES WITH THE COLONELS: This Saturday's away contest against the Colonels will be the 18th meeting between the two programs. The RedHawks lead the series 11-6 all-time, as the Red and White are 5-3 when playing in Richmond. The last time Miami faced off with Eastern Kentucky was in the 1996-97 season, where the RedHawks secured a 91-40 victory.

RECENT ACTION: The Miami University men's basketball team outlasted UNC Asheville in a 90-87 overtime win at Kimmel Arena on Wednesday night. Evan Ipsaro totaled a new career-high 27 points, while four other RedHawks added double figures in scoring. Ipsaro also made a career-high 10 field goals and shot 62.5% from the floor (10-of-16), while Luke Skaljac led all players with a career-high nine assists. The Red and White shot 31-of-62 (50.0%) from the field and only recorded five turnovers on the night (the lowest amount by a RedHawk team since Nov. 11, 2021). This win marked Miami's first overtime victory since a 96-92 win over Kent State last season (Feb. 21, 2025).
RANKINGS: The Miami University men's basketball team received two votes in the most recent Associated Press Top 25 men's college basketball poll for the first time in the 2025-26 season on Monday. The Red and White also remained at its highest ranking of the 2025-26 season on the Mid-Major Top 25® Poll, as Collegeinsider announced its new poll Monday evening, with the RedHawks still ranked No. 4 overall. The RedHawks are just one of eight teams that are still undefeated at the Division I level (Duke, Iowa St., Nebraska, Oklahoma St., Vanderbilt, Arizona, Miami and Michigan).
