OXFORD, Ohio – The NCAA announced its field of 18 for the 2025 Division I Field Hockey Tournament on Sunday evening. Miami will bypass the opening round, becoming the first MAC school ever to do so, and face the fourth-seeded Virginia Cavaliers in Charlottesville, Va. in the first round.
The matchup between the RedHawks (15-4, 8-1 MAC) and the Cavaliers (16-2, 7-1 ACC) will take place this Friday, Nov. 14 at noon. It will be broadcast on ESPN+. The winner will face either Northwestern or Yale on Sunday afternoon for a spot in the final four.
Miami secured its spot in the tournament after taking down No. 14 UMass in a 2-1 double-overtime thriller this weekend to win its eighth-straight MAC Tournament title. This came after defeating James Madison 2-1 in the semifinals.
