Miami Faces Off With RIT Friday at Friendship Four
11/27/2025 1:29:00 PM | Hockey
Miami Hockey travels overseas this week to participate in the prestigious Friendship Four in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Held annually in Belfast since 2015, the Friendship Four is the first and only NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament to take place outside North America. The RedHawks become the first NCHC institution to play in the event and will join RIT, Sacred Heart and No. 20 Union in competing for the Belpot Trophy. The Red and White's last regular-season tournament was the 2018 Ice Breaker in Erie, Pa. Miami is 5-0 all-time in Europe (all five games were in the 1979-80 season). The RedHawks come in at 8-4-0 (2-4-0 NCHC) after a home split with St. Cloud State last week (6-5 OT win, 4-2 loss). Miami will play RIT (9-4-0, 6-4-0 AHA) Friday at 2 p.m. ET at SSE Arena Belfast; the Tigers lost at Niagara (2-1 in OT) and Bentley (3-2) last week. The RedHawks then face the Sacred Heart Pioneers (6-5-1, 4-3-1 AHA) or Union Garnet Chargers (8-3-2, 2-3-1 ECAC) Saturday, with the third-place game set for 10 a.m. ET and the championship at 2 p.m.
The Friendship Four games will be broadcast on FLOHockey. Greg Waddell (play-by-play) and Drew Davis (analyst) will have an audio broadcast streaming on MiamiRedHawks.com.
Miami and RIT have never met. The RedHawks are 1-1 all-time against Sacred Heart (a February 2003 home series split) and have never faced off with Union.
Kocha Delic (6-8-14) leads the Red and White in points and is one of four players (Maximilion Helgeson, Ilia Morozov, Ryan Smith) with a team-high six goals. Vladislav Lukashevich (2-10-12) tops the RedHawks in assists. Matteo Drobac has played every minute in net and is 8-4-0 between the pipes (3.33 GAA, .893 save %).
Ilia Morozov, Casper Nassen and head coach Anthony Noreen met with the media in Belfast to preview the upcoming tournament.
