Collegiate Win Highlights Busy Skating Weekend

BOSTON, Mass./KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Miami University synchronized skating teams were both in action this weekend in separate events. The collegiate team came in first out of six programs at their initial competition of the season, the Kalamazoo Kickoff in Michigan, while the senior team took third place out of five teams at the Boston Classic in Massachusetts.
HOW IT HAPPENED (COLLEGIATE)
Miami's program on Saturday in Kalamazoo produced a total score of 105.95.
The team's executed element score was 49.83 and the program component score was 56.12.
The Red and White skated a clean performance with no point deductions.
The RedHawks' final score was good for first place in the overall standings, nearly six points better than Western Michigan's 100.09.
HOW IT HAPPENED (SENIOR)
On Saturday evening, the Red and White skated their short program and finished with a total score of 62.76.
The team's technical element score was 35.16 and the program component score was 29.60.
The RedHawks ranked second out of five teams after Saturday's portion of the competition.
On Sunday afternoon, Miami's free skate earned a total score of 110.86, with a technical element score of 56.36 and a program component score of 57.50.
This gave the RedHawks a final score of 173.62, good for third place in the overall standings. Skyliners took first place with a total score of 198.61.

The collegiate team returns to the ice Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Dr. Porter Classic in Ann Arbor, Mich.
