Miami Preps to Host SCSU This Weekend
11/19/2025 3:16:00 PM | Hockey
Miami Hockey returns home this weekend to host St. Cloud State, with both teams receiving votes in both major national polls. Miami (7-3-0, 1-3-0 NCHC) dropped a pair of games at then-No. 9/8 Western Michigan last week (5-2 and 6-2 scores), while SCSU (6-6-0, 1-3-0 NCHC) lost a midweek game at St. Thomas last Tuesday by a 3-1 score.
This week's games at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena are set for Friday, Nov. 21 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 22 at 6:05 p.m. The contests will be broadcast on NCHC.tv and will air tape-delayed on Rock Entertainment Sports Network, with live coverage in some markets across the nation Saturday on Gray Media stations. Greg Waddell (play-by-play), Drew Davis (analyst), and David Ventura (rinkside reporter) will have the call, with audio coverage streaming on MiamiRedHawks.com.
Miami Hockey will debut new Cradle of Coaches-themed uniforms this weekend. The jerseys feature distinct branding elements that pay tribute to the storied heritage of Miami Athletics as well as the Cradle of Coaches. The gold accents pay homage to the gold standard of coaching exemplified by Miami coaches, past, present, and future across all sports, while the color black is used to symbolize the tradition, strength, history and prestige of Miami's Cradle of Coaches. Cradle of Coaches Association inductees at MU include Steve Cady (the head coach during Miami Hockey's first seven years as a varsity program and its arena namesake) and George Gwozdecky (who led Miami to its first CCHA title and NCAA Tournament appearance in 1993 and later went on to win two national championships at Denver as head coach).
Four skaters have produced double-digit points for Miami through 10 games, including the entire top line: Kocha Delic (5-7-12), Ilia Morozov (6-5-11) and Matteo Giampa (3-7-10). Morozov, Ryan Smith (6-2-8) and Maximilion Helgeson (6-2-8) top the RedHawks in goals with six apiece, while Vladislav Lukashevich (2-9-11) has a team-high nine assists. Matteo Drobac has played every minute in net for the Red and White and is 7-3-0 between the pipes (3.19 GAA, .902 save %).
Junior forward Doug Grimes and head coach Anthony Noreen met with the media this week to preview the games against the Huskies.
