Men's Basketball Announces Two Additions

OXFORD, Ohio – Head men's basketball coach Travis Steele has announced the addition of two signees for the 2026-27 season. Anthony Fresh and Alan Horton are set to join the RedHawks.

"I am thrilled to announce that we are signing Anthony Fresh and Alan Horton to our men's basketball program," said Steele. "They are both terrific fits for Miami and our program. Recruiting is the bloodline to the program, so it is imperative that we continue to get talented young men who fit!"

Anthony Fresh, 6-4, G, Jeffersonville, Ind. (Charlestown)
High School:

Currently attends Charlestown High School
Coached by Matt Lynch
Named team captain as a junior and senior
Averaged 20.9 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.2 steals as a junior
Shot 60% from the field and 39% from the three-point line in his junior season
2024-25 MSC All-Conference and 2025 Indiana Junior All-Star in his junior year
Holds school's all-time record for most threes in a single game (nine)

Steele on Fresh: "Anthony is a young man who really came on strong this past summer while playing for Midwest Basketball Club on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit," said Steele. "Anthony attends Charlestown High School in Indiana, where he is coached by Matt Lynch. Anthony has a very high upside. He is long, athletic and can really score the basketball. He also has the ability to be a very good defender. Please welcome Anthony and his family to Miami!"

Alan Horton, 6-9, PF/C, Toledo, Ohio (St. Francis de Sales School)
High School:

Currently attends St. Francis de Sales School
Coached by Jamie Kachmarik
Named team captain as a senior
Averaged 11.7 points and 9.8 rebounds as a junior
Recorded the most blocked shots in a single season (59) in 2024-25
District 7 Player of the Year, CHSL All-League, All-Northwest Ohio District Second Team and Honorable Mention All-State as a junior
Named St.Francis De Sales defensive player of the year in his junior year
Recognized to the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association All-Academic Team as a junior

Steele on Horton: "Alan has been on our radar for a couple of years, and he has taken enormous strides during that time frame. He comes from a terrific high school program at St. Francis de Sales School in Toledo, where he is coached by Jamie Kachmarik. Alan also played AAU basketball on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit for Midwest Basketball Club," Steele said. "Alan has great hands, feet and feel for the game. His interior offensive footwork is very advanced for his age. He is also a very strong rebounder and defender. Please welcome Alan and his family to Miami!"
