OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 77-63 decision to Kent State on Saturday afternoon.
Maya Chandler led the way for Miami (11-7, 4-4 MAC) with 18 points, while Jenna Batsch scored 19 points for the Golden Flashes (13-7, 6-2 MAC).
Enjulina Gonzalez added 17 points and
Amber Tretter chipped in with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Red and White.
How it Happened:
- Miami opened the contest on a 6-4 run with help from a pair of buckets from Gonzalez. Kent State then rolled in a three pointer to claim a 7-6 advantage at the first media timeout. The Golden Flashes opened a 13-6 lead after a 6-0 run in less than a minute before Chandler's jumper ended the Miami drought. KSU led 16-8 after 10 minutes of play.
- KSU scored the first five points of the second quarter for a 21-8 lead. A three-point play from Gonzalez, followed by a triple from Ilse de Vries cut the deficit to seven, 21-14 with seven minutes left in the half. Following a triple from Chandler and a 15-foot jumper from Tretter, Miami trailed by just two with three minutes left in the half. KSU responded with a 7-0 run to end the quarter as Miami trailed 28-19.
- Chandler and Tretter combined to score five points in less than a minute and following a pair of KSU free throws, Tretter and Gonzalez knocked in back-to-back buckets to trail by just two, 30-28. The Golden Flashes answered with 10-straight points for a 12-point advantage with four minutes remaining in the third. KSU eventually garnered a 15-point lead late in the third, but Miami closed the quarter on an 8-0 run, including a buzzer-beating tip-in from Chandler.
- Tretter's layup two minutes into the quarter closed the gap to six, but KSU stretched the lead back to 11 with four minutes to play. Gonzalez and Singer converted layups and following a KSU jumper, a three-point play from Tretter made it a six-point game with two minutes to play. Miami would get no closer.

- Amber Tretter recorded the 14th double-double of her career with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
- Ilse de Vries tied her career-best with four blocks.
- Kent State was 7-for-15 from behind the arc, while the RedHawks were just 3-of-18.
