AKRON, Ohio – The Miami University men's basketball team dropped to Akron Saturday afternoon 102-75 in James A. Rhodes Arena. Peter Suder led all scorers with 18 points, while Brant Byers added 14 and Evan Ipsaro totaled 12. Tavari Johnson recorded a team-high 15 points for the Zips. Miami falls to 14-5 (6-1 MAC), and Akron rises to 14-5 (7-0 MAC).

The RedHawks continue conference play by returning home to host Eastern Michigan Tuesday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.
How it Happened:
- Kam Craft opened the game by burying a deep three to give the RedHawks a 3-0 advantage. Suder scored a fadeaway jumper, and Mekhi Cooper added a layup to tie the game at seven apiece. The Zips went on to their rhythm offensively, claiming a 33-13 lead with 7:54 to play in the first half.
- A triple from Byers and a step-through layup plus the foul from Ipsaro kept Miami within 20 at 38-19. Numerous free throws, another three from Craft and a pull-up jump shot from Eian Elmer sent the RedHawks into halftime trailing 52-28.
- Akron extended its lead coming out of the break by scoring the first nine points. Cooper and Byers combined for a pair of threes, and Suder added a couple of driving layups to put the score at 72-40. Craft put in his third triple of the day, and Mekhi Cooper found Ipsaro from deep at 82-52. Suder scored the next six points for the Red and White.
- A collection of layups made it 92-66 with 2:31 to play. Luke Skaljac found Dan Luers standing at the left wing for a shot from beyond the arc to make it 96-69. The RedHawks went on to fall 102-75.

- Akron had six players score in double figures.
- Miami was out-rebounded 24 to 41.
- Byers, Ipsaro and Suder each recorded two steals.
