Omaha Holds Off Miami 3-1

OXFORD, Ohio– John Emmons scored his first collegiate goal Saturday night, but the Miami University hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to (RV) Omaha in the teams' series finale at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena.

Brett Miller made 26 saves in net for the RedHawks (3-17-2, 0-12-0 NCHC). Griffin Ludtke led the Mavericks (12-10-0, 8-4-0 NCHC) with two points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 12:37 1st (Miami 1-0) | The RedHawks struck first, taking the lead after dominating the first 12 minutes of action. Emmons did the honors, lifting the puck in from just in front of the net after collecting a return pass from Colby Ambrosio. Spencer Cox started the play at the right point and also picked up an assist.
  • 19:01 1st (Omaha 1-1) | Omaha evened the score on a power-play goal in the final minute of the period, as Brock Bremer knocked home a rebound after an initial shot by Ludtke. Charlie Lurie had the second assist on the play, sending a pass across the zone to tee up Ludtke's attempt.
  • 20:00 1st (Omaha 2-1) | The Mavericks beat the buzzer to end the stanza, as Sam Stange worked the puck loose along the end boards and sent a pass around to Liam Watkins. Watkins fed Dylan Gratton in front to put the visitors ahead with only tenths of a second remaining in the period.
  • 9:51 2nd (Omaha 3-1) | Jacob Guevin tipped in a shot from Brady Risk to extend Omaha's lead midway through the second period. The Mavericks won a faceoff to Ludtke at the top of the zone, with Ludtke then sending a feed to Risk on the far side of the faceoff circle. Guevin was in the right place to finish the play and make it 3-1.

  • Cox produced his 35th career assist.
