OXFORD, Ohio– The Miami University hockey team returned to Steve "Coach" Cady Arena this weekend for its first home series of 2025, falling 4-1 to (RV) Omaha Friday night.
Casper Nassen scored the only goal for Miami (3-16-2, 0-11-0 NCHC). Simon Latkoczy stopped 25 of the 26 shots he saw for the Mavericks (11-10-0, 7-4-0 NCHC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 6:13 1st (Miami 1-0) | Nassen deflected a deep shot from Michael Quinn into the net to stake the RedHawks to a 1-0 lead early. Max Dukovac sent the puck to Quinn from the corner of the rink to start the play.
- 15:18 1st (Omaha 1-1) | The Mavericks evened the score 1-1 when Charlie Lurie grabbed a power-play goal later in the period. Tyler Rollwagen brought the puck to the blue line before handing it off to Griffin Ludtke on his left. Ludtke then made a pass across to Lurie to finish the play.
- 16:33 1st (Omaha 2-1) | Liam Watkins gave the visitors their first lead just over a minute later. Zach Urdahl kept the puck alive behind the goal and flung it over to Joe Gramer, with Gramer then relaying it to Watkins for a sprawling shot from the far side of the net.
- 18:53 2nd (Omaha 3-1) | After nearly 19 minutes of scoreless hockey in the middle stanza, Harrison Israels doubled the Mavericks' advantage as he snatched the puck away in the Mavs' offensive zone, faked a pass, and fired to make it 3-1.
- 7:47 3rd (Omaha 4-1) | Dylan Gratton made a tough-angle shot from below the goal line to extend Omaha's lead to 4-1 in the third period. Myles Hilman was also credited with an assist on the play.
