RedHawks Complete Day One of MAC Championships

DeKALB, Ill.— The RedHawks traveled to Northern Illinois University to compete in the MAC Championships beginning on Thursday, May 9. The Miami women finished day one with five points and in eighth place, while the Miami men finished with 11 points and in fifth place.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Miami Track and Field team's first event on day two is the women's heptathlon long jump event Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. ET.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the women's heptathlon, Amanda Kaufman finished in eighth place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.43 seconds. Kaufman finished in ninth place in the long jump event with 1.39 meters. In the 200-meter dash, Kaufman finished in ninth place with a time of 27.26 seconds. Kaufman also finished in 10th place in the shot put event with 9.05 meters.
- For the women, Erin Connors finished in fifth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.82, qualifying for the finals on Saturday.
- For the women, Jenna Sayle finished in ninth place in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:30.03 and she qualified for the finals on Saturday.
- On the field for the women, Santornya Ralliford finished in fourth place in the javelin throw event with a season best 38.94 meters.
- On the field for the men, the RedHawks had three top-10 finishers in the men's javelin throw. Matthew Howard (54.98 meters) and CJ Johnson Jr. (54.23 meters) finished in third and fourth place. This distance was a personal record for Johnson, beating his previous record that he set at last season's MAC Championships by 2.11 meters. Adam Smith also competed in the javelin throw event and he finished in ninth place with 48.09 meters. Reilly Worthington (45.96 meters) and Gabe Asbury (41.40 meters) finished in ninth and 10th place in the men's shot put event.
- For the men, Jaxson Tober (54.70 seconds) and Eman Alfred (55.32 seconds) qualified for the 400-meter hurdles finals on Saturday by finishing in seventh and eighth place, respectively. Josh Mikulka also finished in 10th place in the 400-meter hurdles with a season best time of 56.51 seconds. In the men's 200-meter prelims, Leo Bouldin finished in 10th place with a season best time of 21.25 seconds.
- For the men, Patrick Wills (30:41.71), Max Polak (30:48.80), and Ben Bayless (30:50.26) finished in sixth, seventh, and eighth place in the 10,000-meter run, respectively.
