
RedHawks Fall to Kent State 10-2 in Game Two

KENT, Ohio— The RedHawks fell to Kent State 10-2 Saturday, bringing their nine-game win streak to an end. Evan Appelwick was a bright spot for the Miami offensive front, hitting a two-run home run to put Miami on the board in the sixth inning. The RedHawks fall to 23-20 (15-11 MAC) with the loss, while Kent State moves to 23-22 (13-10 MAC) with the victory.

Game three is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. tomorrow. Miami will look to take home the series victory before welcoming rival Ohio Bobcats to McKee Field for a three-game homestand beginning May 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kent State came out swinging in the bottom of the first, opening their offensive showing with a single by Josh Johnson. Johnson advanced on a single by Tim Orr, and Kyle Jackson came up with the Flashes' third straight single to load the bases.
- A sacrifice fly scored the first run of the day, and a single by Michael McNamara drove in two more, giving the Flashes a 3-0 lead after one inning.
- Kent State led off the second with a walk, and Ripken Reese followed with a single. The frontrunner advanced to third on a sacrifice fly and scored on the next at-bat on another sac fly, making it 4-0 through two.
- Orr led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk and advanced on a wild pitch. Jackson walked as well, and a single by Brody Williams made it 5-0.
- A sacrifice groundout and a sacrifice fly brought in runs number six and seven for the Golden Flashes.
- With two outs, Kent State took an HBP, and Payton Ebbing hit a home run to left field to put an exclamation point on a five-run inning and give his team a 9-0 advantage.
- Leading off the sixth for Miami, Ty Batusich doubled to left center. Appelwick cleared the bases with a two-run homer to left field to put the RedHawks on the board and make it 9-2.
- Johnson homered down the left field line in the bottom of the sixth to give Kent State their 10th run and cap off a 10-2 ballgame.

- Batusich went 2-for-4 with one run.
