OXFORD, Ohio— The Miami University baseball team dropped a 10-2 decision to visiting East Tennessee State Saturday in the final game of the 2024 regular season. The RedHawks' record moves to 26-25, while ETSU improves to 34-18.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The RedHawks struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the opening inning. Dillon Baker led off with a single to center field and eventually came around to score on an error by the ETSU right fielder.
- The Buccaneers took the lead for good with a five-run fourth inning, as each of the visitors' first six hitters in the frame got on base.
- East Tennessee State added a run in the sixth inning and four more in the eighth, including a three-run homer to right field.
- Miami responded with a run in the bottom half of the eighth, as Zach MacDonald was hit by a pitch and advanced on a Ty Batusich double before Evan Appelwick drove him in with a sac fly.
- ETSU closed the game out to post a 10-2 victory.
NOTES
- Tyler Gordon went 2-for-4 at the plate.
- Batusich was 1-for-3 with a walk.
- Seven pitchers saw action for Miami.
- The RedHawks honored their senior class before the home finale.
