Spaid Named USA Softball Player of the Year Finalist

Karli Spaid has been named one of 10 finalists for USA Softball's Collegiate Player of the Year award. She is joined by Reese Atwood (Texas), Jaysoni Beachum (Florida State), Maya Brady (UCLA), NiJaree Canady (Stanford), Claire Davidson (Duke), Tiare Jennings (Oklahoma), Lexi Kilfoyl (Oklahoma State), Korbe Otis (Florida) and Karlyn Pickens (Tennessee).
 
Spaid enters this weekend's Knoxville Regional with a .426 batting average, 36 home runs (leads the nation), 77 RBI and a .533 on-base percentage. She also leads the country with a 1.154 slugging percentage.
 
The 2024 MAC Player of the Year has 22 multi-hit games this season and enters the contest versus Virginia having reached base in 39-straight games. She hit two home runs (including the first ever inside Love's Field) at Oklahoma and had multi home run efforts five times in 2024. She had a career-high six RBI in a win over Kansas City and has 40 walks to just 25 strikeouts this year.
 
Spaid is Miami's all-time career leader in batting average (.399), hits (274), home runs (103), RBI (257) and slugging percentage (.934).
 
The top three finalist for this year's honor will be announced on May 20.
