ATHLETES UNLIMITED – On Tuesday evening,
Karli Spaid of the Miami University softball team was drafted seventh overall in the Athletes Unlimited College Softball Draft. She was among 15 total players to make the cut.
Spaid has had a historic softball career at Miami, breaking school, conference, and national records, sometimes breaking records previously set by herself. The senior ranks first in career batting average (.399), hits (274), home runs (103), runs scored (253), RBI (257) and slugging percentage (.934) in the Miami record book. Her 103 career home runs is second all-time in NCAA history behind Oklahoma's Jocelyn Alo (2018-22).
She is just one home run off this from tying the NCAA single-season home run record (37). She ranks second in the Mid-American Conference in RBI (257)owns the MAC single season home run record (36). This season she was named to All-MAC First Team and added MAC Player of the Year and MAC Tournament MVP to her 2024 accolades. Spaid is the only RedHawk to earn First-Team All-MAC honors four-straight seasons and has also found a spot on the NFCA All-Region first-team each year since 2021.
The senior leads the the RedHawks the season in batting average (.426), OPS (1.687), runs (76), hits (72), home runs (36), total bases (195), slugging percentage (1.154), and on base percentage (.533).
