OXFORD, Ohio— Miami lost game two against Ohio 14-5 Saturday after struggles on both sides of the ball. The RedHawks drop to 25-22 (17-12 MAC) with the loss, while the Bobcats rise to 15-30 (10-16 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ohio's Alex Finney walked in the top of the first and later scored when Caleb Karll came up with a two-out RBI single to take a 1-0 lead.
- Bryce Smith singled to right center, advancing Karll to third. AJ Rausch then doubled to the right field wall, driving in two runs and making the lead 3-0 midway through the first.
- Pauly Mancin doubled down the right field line to lead off the second. Nick Dolan walked, and both runners proceeded to steal bags before a walk from JR Nelson loaded the bases with zero outs. Finney stepped up to the plate and hit a grand slam on a 1-1 count to extend the lead to 7-0.
- Rausch hit a solo homer to lead off the top of the third, stretching the lead to eight runs.
- With two outs in the fifth, Rausch hit a bunt single to third base. Trae Cassidy then tripled, scoring Rausch for Ohio's ninth run of the day.
- Anthony Zarlingo punched Miami's first hit of the day with a single up the middle. Ryan Novak kept the rally going with a single to right, and Tyler Gordon loaded the bases with the top of the order due up with a single to left.
- Zach MacDonald gave Miami their first run with a two-RBI single to centerfield.
- Batusich kept the single streak going with a base hit up the middle, adding one more run.
- Nelson singled in the sixth, and Finney followed suit with another single. Both advanced on a wild pitch, and an intentional walk juiced the bases. Karll walked next, followed by Smith, each punching in one run.
- A sacrifice fly by Rausch scored one more. Cassidy walked, and Pauly Mancin singled to right, scoring two runners and capping off the five-run inning with a 14-3 score.
- Zarlingo led off the bottom of the ninth with a walk and advanced on a groundout. Gordon doubled to left field to score Zarlingo, and Baker singled to score Gordon, capping off a 14-5 final score.
MIAMI GAME NOTES
- Gordon went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs.

The final game of the series starts tomorrow at 1 p.m. The RedHawks will look to take the series victory before welcoming Eastern Tennessee State for their final series of the regular season beginning on Friday.
