HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Eagles started the game with a leadoff single in the first. The runner advanced to third on another single that came as a result of a collision between two outfielders. A sacrifice fly scored one for Eastern Michigan to make it 1-0 in the middle of the first.
- Ryland Zaborowski walked in the top of the second, and Evan Appelwick walked on the next at bat. Ryan Novak then took an HBP, loading the bases with zero outs. A sac fly by David Novak brought home Miami's first run to tie the game.
- Blake Buzzeo returned to the game for the first time after the collision and came up with a sacrifice fly to put the RedHawks ahead 2-1.
- Eastern Michigan doubled at the bottom of the second. A single scored one run, but Miami turned a double play on the next at bat to stop the bleeding and hold the score to 2-2.
- Zach MacDonald led off the third for Miami with a single through the right side. Ty Batusich reached on an error by the second baseman, and MacDonald advanced to third. Zaborowski took a three-run shot over the center field wall to mark his eighth homer of the season and put Miami ahead 5-2.
- MacDonald led off again in the fourth, again with a single, and promptly stole second, notching his 13th stolen base of the year.
- Appelwick took a lap after hitting his seventh home run of the season, pulling Miami's lead up to 7-2.
- Coming out of the bullpen, Carson Byers allowed a leadoff walk and proceeded to send down the next three batters he faced to render the Eagles scoreless in the top of the fifth. Byers pitched in a similar fashion in the sixth, facing three batters and making three outs.
- Dillon Baker led off the seventh with a Left Field Tavern home run. The solo shot made it an 8-2 ballgame in favor of Miami.
- Batusich walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch with one out. Zaborowski took an HBP. After a pitching change, Appelwick singled and advanced to second on the throw, driving in Batusich to make it 9-2.
- Byers struck out two in the top of seventh, which combined with a flyout for another scoreless half inning for Eastern Michigan.
- EMU fought back in the top of the eighth with a home run to center field to make it 8-3.
- Ryan Novak answered with a single in the bottom of the eighth, and David Novak hit a home run into the videoboard, making the score 11-3.
- Tyler Gordon reached first on a fielder's choice and advanced on a wild pitch. Baker walked, and MacDonald took an HBP to load the bases. Batusich then ended the game with a double down the left field line. Two runners came home, putting Miami up 10 and enacting the MAC's Sunday run rule.
