HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eastern Michigan started the game with a leadoff single and a walk. Tyler Gordon turned a sharply hit ground ball into a five-three double play, touching the bag to get the leadoff runner out and throwing to first. Nick Vardavas then struck out the third batter to render the inning empty for the Eagles.
- Dillon Baker led off with a walk in the bottom of the first. DH Ty Batusich hit a double to the centerfield wall, driving in Baker and giving Miami their first lead.
- Ryland Zaborowski then came up with a single, sending Batusich to home plate to stretch the lead to two.
- Evan Appelwick crushed a 434-footer over the centerfield wall to add two more to Miami's early lead.
- EMU opened the second with a triple and a walk. A single drove in the first run of the day for the Eagles, and a flyout advanced a runner to third base to put runners at the corners with one out.
- The rally continued for Eastern Michigan as a double to left center scored two more runners. One last runner reached on a fielder's choice, but was caught stealing by catcher David Novak and shortstop Baker.
- The Eagles capitalized on a fielding error and two fielder's choices in the top of the fourth to tie the game at four apiece.
- Ryan Novak singled through to the right side on a full count, and an error on a failed pickoff attempt at first allowed him to advance two bases to third base. With two outs, Gordon hit a sharp single at the pitcher, who ducked to allow the ball into centerfield. This scored Novak to regain the lead for the RedHawks at 5-4 after four innings.
- With two outs in the top of the fifth, the Eagles came up with singles on four straight at bats. The third single tied the game, and the fourth reclaimed the lead for EMU at 7-5.

- Gordon reached on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the sixth and advanced to third base when Baker singled through to the right side. Zach MacDonald then hit into a fielder's choice, which allowed Gordon to score and cut the Miami deficit to one run.
- Miami turned a double play to render Eastern Michigan scoreless on one hit in the top of the seventh.
- Zaborowski nearly went yard to lead off the seventh with a double that hit off of the center field wall. He advanced to third on a wild pitch, and Appelwick walked to put another runner on base. Ryan Novak then reached first on an error by the shortstop, bringing Zaborowski home to tie the game at 7-7.
- A wild pitch advanced Ryan Novak to second and Appelwick, the go-ahead run, to third. Still with one out, Blake Buzzeo took an HBP, juicing the bases with Gordon due up.
- Gordon managed to hit the ball into a tough spot in the infield to come up with an infield single to score Appelwick and force a pitching change for the Eagles.
- Baker hit a long sacrifice fly to insure Miami's lead with two more runs, scoring Buzzeo and Novak to make it a 10-7 ballgame through seven.
- Zaborowski took an HBP in the bottom of the eighth. Tré Keels came in as a pinch runner for Zaborowski and scored as Appelwick doubled to left center.
- Attempting to rally back, an Eagle doubled and advanced to third on an error atop the ninth. The runner scored on a single to make it 11-8.
