OXFORD, Ohio – The No. 25 Miami University softball team downed Kent State University 8-6 on Friday evening, giving head coach Kirin Kumar her 100th career Mid-American Conference win. The RedHawks move to 38-7 on the season (19-1 MAC). Kent State drops to 24-19 (9-11 MAC).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Kate Kobayashi got the RedHawks out to an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a two-run homer over right-center field that also scored Allie Cummins.
On a first-inning sac fly from Reagan Bartholomew, Holly Blaska tagged up and scored to push the lead to 3-0.
Kent State cut the lead to 3-1 in the top of the second on a solo homer.
Jenna Golembiewski smacked a center-field homer in the bottom of the third that also scored Blaska to push the lead to 5-1.
The Golden Flashes responded with four runs in the fourth, including three extra-base hits, to even the score at 5-all
The visitors hit an RBI double in the top of the fifth to take their first lead of the game, 6-5.
Hadley Parisien stung a two-RBI double in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Chloe Parks and Golembiewski to take the lead back at 7-6.
Karli Spaid hit home run number 30 on the season (97th career) in the bottom of the sixth to up the Miami lead to 8-6.
The RedHawks held this through the top of the seventh to take the game 8-6.

NOTES:

Cummins played in her 239th career game, setting a new MAC record. She also tied the Miami at-bats record with 697.
Golembiewski tied the MAC single-season RBI record with 70.
Kobayashi, Golembiewski, and Parisien each knocked in two RBI. Parisien also went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Madilyn Reeves started in the circle, went three innings, and struck out one.
Addy Jarvis went four innings on the bump and got the win.
