BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Miami University women's basketball team dropped a 66-47 decision to Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon in the Stroh Center.
Cori Lard led Miami (8-19, 5-11 MAC) with a career-high 17 points, while Morgan Sharps had 29 points for the Falcons (15-12, 9-7 MAC).
How it Happened:
- Miami raced out to a quick 11-4 lead behind five points from Amber Tretter and four from Jadyn Scott in the first four minutes of the contest. Bowling Green responded with a 9-0 run to close the quarter and led 13-11.
- The RedHawks opened the second quarter on a 7-2 run to reclaim a lead at 18-15, but the Falcons scored the next seven, forcing a Glenn Box timeout. The BGSU run continued as the Falcons claimed a 34-22 lead at the half.
- Tretter's triple 30 seconds in to the second half cut the deficit to 11, but BG answered, garnering their largest lead of the quarter, 47-27, four minutes into the half. Lard attempted to keep Miami in the game with a pair of triples, but BG's hot shooting to close the third spotted the Orange and Brown a 57-37 advantage.
- Tretter's put back, followed by a three-pointer from Hennessey Luu-Brown made it 57-42, two minutes into the final stanza. Following a timeout, Tretter's three-point play shrunk BGSU's lead to just 12 with seven minutes to play, but the RedHawks could get no closer.
Game Notes:
- Cori Lard finished with a career-high 17 points and seven rebounds.
- Bowling Green was 10-of-21 from long distance, compared to Miami's 6-of-20.
