Miami Takes Down Seattle 10-2

TULSA, Okla. – The Miami University softball team downed Seattle University 10-2 in five innings on Saturday afternoon. The Miami offense never let off the gas pedal with seven extra-base hits of their nine total. The RedHawks move to 11-3 on the season and Seattle drops to 7-11.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • On an error drawn by Chloe Parks, two runs went across the plate, Holly Blaska and Karli Spaid.
  • A pair of doubles from Blaska and Parks in the top of the third scored Spaid and Blaska to double the RedHawks lead to 4-0.
  • In that same inning, Hadley Parisien added a pair of runs on a double of her own. Parks and Kate Kobayashi crossed to make it a 6-0 game.
  • In the bottom of the third, a solo homer and a RBI double got Seattle on the board at 6-2.
  • In the top of the fifth, solo home runs from Kobayashi and Spaid and a two-run homer from Jenna Golembiewski that also scored Allie Cummins stretched Miami's lead to 10-2.
  • The RedHawks held their eight-run lead through the end of the fifth to take the game 10-2 in five innings.
 
NOTES:
  • Three RedHawks hit homers, Golembiewski, Spaid, and Kobayashi.
  • Blaska, Parks, and Parisien each had doubles. Blaksa had two and went 2-for-3 at the plate.
  • The RedHawks had nine hits, seven of which were for extra bases.
  • Ashley Hitchcock went three innings in the circle and got the win, striking out one and allowing only three hits.
  • Madilyn Reeves was on the rubber for two innings, striking out three and allowing only two hits.

     
UP NEXT: The RedHawks will face off against the University of Missouri-Kansas City tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. in Tulsa, Okla.
