Miami Secures Trip to Cleveland with 52-37 Win at EMU

YPSILANTI, Mich.— The Miami University men's basketball team topped Eastern Michigan 52-37 Saturday afternoon. Anderson Mirambeaux led Miami (15-14, 9-7 MAC) with 11 points, while Darweshi Hunter added 10 points and seven rebounds. Jalin Billingsley led the Eagles (12-17, 5-11 MAC) offensively with 13 points. HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Mirambeaux scored the first five points for Miami to take an early 5-2 lead. A pair of threes from Bryce Bultman and Evan Ipsaro helped spark a 10-2 run to make it 15-4 with 12:02 remaining in the first half. Hunter put in a fast break layup and Bultman found Reece Potter underneath the basket for a dunk to enter halftime ahead 22-17.
- The Red and White began the second half with a 13-2 run to stretch their lead to 35-19. Hunter knocked in a couple shots from behind the three-point line and Eian Elmer added multiple layups (one of which he got fouled and went on to convert a three-point play) to lead the scoring output.
- Bradley Dean joined the offensive push from the RedHawks with a jumper and shot from downtown to make it a 44-26 ball game with nine minutes to play. The Red and White went on to seal a 52-37 victory over the Eagles.
GAME NOTES:
- Elmer tied his career-high four steals.
- The RedHawks held an opponent to under 40 points for the first time since November 24, 2008 against the Wright State Raiders (55-37).
