OXFORD, Ohio— Miami fell to Butler 13-10 during a standalone game Tuesday after allowing a seven-run first inning. Zach MacDonald and Ryland Zaborowski each hit a home run during the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Butler came out swinging in the first, utilizing four hits and a number of free bases to get off to a seven run start.
  • Ty Batusich led off Miami in the first with a single. MacDonald followed with a double down the right field line to send Batusich to third. Zaborowski walked to load the bases with zero outs.
  • Ryan Novak hit into a fielder's choice that resulted in one run, one out and runners at the corners for Miami. A sac fly by Dillon Baker sent one more across to end the inning with a score of 7-2.
  • In the bottom of the second, Justin Gorski led off for Miami with a single through the right side and Tyler Gordon advanced him to second with another single. MacDonald then crushed a three-run home run over the center field wall to put Miami back into the game 7-5.
  • Butler tacked on two more runs in the top of the third to increase the lead to four runs and make it a 9-5 ballgame.
  • Dillon Baker took an HBP and Gorski walked in the bottom of the third. Both advanced on a passed ball and Garrison Barile took another HBP to juice the bases with two outs. Gordon walked to send Baker to home plate and make it 9-6. Batusich then took a walk as well, bringing in Gorski to put the score at 9-7 after three.
