OXFORD, Ohio— The RedHawks defeated the Golden Grizzlies of Oakland University in dominant fashion on Friday by a score of 21-3 after putting up 10 runs in the first two innings. Third baseman
Ryland Zaborowski hit two home runs during the contest.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Zach MacDonald led off the RedHawks' first inning rally with a bunt single.
- Zaborowski followed up with a double down the left field line, sending MacDonald to third base.
- David Novak grounded out to first, sending MacDonald home for the first score of the game.
- Anthony Zarlingo added to the rally by hitting an RBI bunt single towards first base. He was originally called out, but replay overturned the call, ruling him safe at first.
- Dillon Baker then doubled to left field, bringing Zarlingo home to score.
- The RedHawks' next hit came on an RBI single by Ryan Novak.
- Tre Keels walked, pushing Ryan Novak to second. Tyler Gordon followed up with a triple into the right field corner, sending Keels and Novak to home plate and capping off the RedHawks' six-run first inning.
- Oakland put up one run in the top of the second to make the score 6-1.
- During the second inning, Zaborowski started the offense with a single to left center. David Novak also singled to left center, sending Zaborowski to second and setting up Zarlingo to hit an RBI single.
- Ryan Novak continued the scoring with a double to left center that brought in two more runners.
- Keels added one more on an RBI double, but was thrown out trying to stretch the hit to a triple. This put Miami up 10-1 after two.
- Miami's lone run in the third came on an RBI sac fly from Dylan Novak with the bases loaded that sent Batusich home and made the score 11-1 in favor of the RedHawks.
- Tyler Gordon hit a sac fly that scored Baker in the fourth to push Miami's score to 12.
- During the fifth, MacDonald was hit by a pitch and took first base. Zaborowski cleaned up with a monster two-run home run over the left field wall.
- Zarlingo singled up the middle and came home on a triple placed into the right field corner by Ryan Novak, who made the game score 15-1.
- Oakland scored one additional run during the sixth inning.
- During the bottom of the sixth, a walk from Batusich and a MacDonald infield single set up Zaborowski to hit a three-run home run over the left field wall, marking his second homer of the day and his third on the season to put Miami ahead 18-1. Baker later hit a two-run RBI triple, bringing Miami's score to 20. He came home when Ryan Novak hit a single to left field.
- Oakland put one up five runs during the final innings to cap off a 21-7 win for Miami.
