OXFORD, Ohio-- The Miami University hockey team dropped a hard-fought battle to No. 2/2 North Dakota 4-1 in front of a sellout crowd of 3,101 Saturday night at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena.
Albin Nilsson scored for the second straight game for the RedHawks (7-17-2, 1-14-1 NCHC). Logan Britt had a pair of goals to lead the Fighting Hawks (20-6-2, 11-4-1 NCHC).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- 4:22 1st (UND 1-0) | Britt secured an early 1-0 lead for the Fighting Hawks after scoring from the left side of the crease off a feed from Abram Wiebe. Jackson Blake was also credited with an assist on the play.
- 13:49 1st (UND 2-0) | Cameron Berg doubled UND's advantage to 2-0, flipping the puck in from just in front of the net after Jackson Kunz initially poked it free in the UND offensive zone.
- 4:04 2nd (Miami 2-1) | Nilsson put Miami on the board with a power-play tally in the second period. After PJ Fletcher connected with John Waldron on a pass, Waldron split two defenders to rip a shot from close range. Nilsson gathered the rebound and maneuvered it inside the near goalpost to cut the North Dakota lead to 2-1.
- 14:12 2nd (UND 3-1) | Later in the period, Britt snagged his second goal of the game by sliding a shot in from a tough angle along the goal line. Owen McLaughlin created the scoring opportunity, skating the puck into the middle of the zone after a pass along the blue line from Bennett Zmolek.
