KALAMAZOO, Mich.— The Miami University men's basketball team dropped to Western Michigan 77-58 Tuesday night.
Anderson Mirambeaux led Miami (12-14, 6-7 MAC) with 19 points, while
Darweshi Hunter and
Evan Ipsaro each added eight points. Seth Hubbard led the Broncos (9-17, 6-7 MAC) offensively with 19 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- At the start of play, Western Michigan jumped out to a 7-2 lead with 16:49 on the scoreboard. On the next two possessions, Reece Potter put in a three and Hunter got fouled on a driving layup for a three-point play to take an 8-7 lead. The Broncos answered by going on a long run to jump ahead 29-12 with just under nine minutes left in the first half.
- Numerous free throws and a Mirambeaux shot from behind the arc brought the RedHawks back within 10 points at 35-27. With time expiring before the half, Ipsaro found Bryce Bultman in the left corner for a three to trail 38-33 going into the intermission. Miami went on a 12-0 scoring run from 3:53 to 1:49.
- Coming out of the break, Mirambeaux put in his second three of the game to close within four at 40-36. Western Michigan responded by extending its lead to 51-36 with 13:28 to play. Mirambeaux recorded a layup and Mekhi Cooper put in a pair of free throws to make it 65-45 with 7:55 remaining. Despite a strong effort, the Red and White went on to fall 77-58.
GAME NOTES:
- Hunter led all players with three steals and nine rebounds.
- Jaquel Morris matched the game-high two blocks.
