KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The Miami University volleyball team (7-18, 1-13 MAC) fell in a three-set decision (19-25, 9-25, 20-25) to Western Michigan (15-11, 11-4) Friday night at University Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Chelsea Williams got the RedHawk offense going at the start of the first set with two kills to stay within reach of Western Michigan at 5-4. A block from Ana Vetter and Raegan Lantz made it 16-10 in favor of the Broncos. Trailing 21-10, Miami outscored Western Michigan 9-3 to make it 24-19. The offensive push fell just short, as the Red and White dropped in the first set 25-19.
- The Broncos opened the second set with momentum, claiming a 9-1 lead. A kill from Caroline Cermack and Lantz pushed the score to 16-7. The RedHawks ultimately lost the set 25-9.
- A pair of kills from Miami and a Tate Mercer service ace gave the RedHawks an early 4-1 advantage in the third set. Western Michigan went on to even things up at five apiece. The Broncos looked to separate from Miami at 14-8. Gentry Warrick sparked a run for the Red and White by hitting a pair of kills. Cermack also added two kills and a service ace to come within three points of the Broncos at 18-15. Late service aces from Mercer and Vetter gave Miami a chance at 24-20, but Western Michigan secured the third set 25-20.

- Gracie Norris recorded a career-high three kills.
- Mercer posted a season-best two service aces.
