Miami Falls 2-1 to RPI in Series Finale

OXFORD, Ohio– RPI scored early in the third period to break a deadlock and then held off Miami 2-1 in the teams' series finale Saturday night at Steve "Coach" Cady Arena. Michael Quinn scored the first goal of his college career for the RedHawks (3-5-2). The Engineers improve to 4-3-1 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • 08:44 2nd (RPI 1-0) | Felix Caron scored early in the second period to put the Engineers in front 1-0. Jack Brackett tipped away a Miami cross-ice pass attempt to start a 3-on-1 break and found Caron with a backdoor feed for the game's first goal.
  • 10:36 2nd (Miami 1-1) | Miami struck back less than two minutes later on its longest offensive zone possession of the entire season. In a 4-on-4 situation, the RedHawks held the puck in for a 53-second span, working it around the zone to wear the Engineers defense. Colby Ambrosio received a pass from Matt Choupani and weaved around multiple opponents before firing a close-range shot, with Quinn in perfect position to knock home the rebound and even the score.
  • 4:00 3rd (RPI 2-1) | From the top of the faceoff circle, Will Gilson notched a goal to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Tyler Hotson fought for the puck along the boards, with Jagger Tapper eventually knocking it loose and sending a pass across to Gilson for the finish.
