ATHENS, Ohio — The Miami University volleyball team (7-13, 1-8 MAC) fell to Ohio (8-11, 4-4 MAC) in a four-set match (19-25, 24-26, 25-19, 23-25) Saturday evening at the Convocation Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ohio began play with a 5-0 lead. The RedHawks stayed within five points at 12-7 after scoring three straight times. A block from Gentry Warrick and Raegan Lantz, followed up with a Lantz kill, brought Miami within three at 18-15. The Bobcats closed the set with a 25-19 win.
- Ohio put down a pair of service aces at the beginning of the second set. The Bobcats attempted to extend their lead further at 11-7 before Ava Francis sparked the RedHawk offense with back-to-back service aces to come within one at 11-10. Ohio led 20-16 when Miami stormed back by outscoring the Bobcats 6-1 to take the lead at 22-21. Ohio snuck past Miami 26-24 to close out the second set.
- Ohio led 5-4 in the third set when a collection of attack errors propelled the RedHawks forward 8-5. Ohio evened the score at 11 apiece, but Miami then responded with six consecutive points to command a 17-11 advantage. The Bobcats came no closer, dropping in the third set 25-19.
- The fourth set was tied at 4-4 when Ohio separated from Miami by scoring four unanswered points. The Red and White stayed resilient, putting together a run of its own to trail by just one point at 12-11. Lydia Michelin recorded a couple solo blocks to spark the run for Miami. The Bobcats looked to close out the set at 22-17, but Ana Vetter and Michelin had other intentions, each knocking down a kill to force an Ohio timeout. The RedHawks made it a one-point set at 24-23, but the effort fell just short, dropping 25-23.

- Gracie Norris led all players with a career-best 37 assists.
- Warrick recorded the most blocks of the match (six).
