DAVIS, Calif. – The RedHawk offense was the highlight of the Miami University field hockey team's 2-1 win at the University of California Davis on Saturday evening. Miami moves to 2-0 with its second win in as many days, while UC Davis drops to 0-2 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- With less than a minute remaining in the first quarter, the RedHawks struck first, grabbing a 1-0 lead when Carlie Servis scored a goal.
- Miami held its 1-0 lead through the end of the first half.
- Just under eight minutes into the third quarter, UC Davis scored to tie the game at 1-1. This score would remain heading into the final quarter.
- However, the RedHawks took the lead back quickly when Claudia Negrete Garcia scored in the first minute of the fourth quarter to make it a 2-1 game. She was assisted by Paula Peña Martinez.
- Miami made the 2-1 lead stand up through the remainder of the game to earn its second win of the season.

The RedHawks will return to Oxford, Ohio for their home opener on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 12 p.m. to take on Saint Francis University.
