The Miami University men's basketball team traveled to Puerto Rico last week and played three games against a group of All-Stars from the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). Reece Potter led the RedHawks with an average of 15 points per game and added 5.3 rebounds each game. Evan Ipsaro facilitated a team-high four assists per contest and Jaquel Morris pulled down six rebounds per game to lead Miami.
Throughout the week, the team experienced various activities around the area, including snorkeling, sightseeing, swimming and exploring Old San Juan.
The first game was hard-fought and came down to the wire. Bryce Bultman and Ryan Mabrey led the offensive charge with 13 points each. Darweshi Hunter followed close behind with 12 points. Bradley Dean brought the defensive edge with two steals and Morris led everyone with 10 rebounds. The RedHawks were ultimately able to close out the game to secure an 82-78 victory.
The Red and White totaled seven double-digit scorers in their second game of the trip. Potter led all Miami scorers with 18 points on 7-9 shooting. As a whole, the RedHawks shot 60.3% from the field and 56.7% from beyond the arc. The Red and White also sunk 84.6% (33-39) of their free throws. Miami went on to win 126-80, as Eian Elmer stole the show with a highlight-reel dunk that made No. 6 on SportsCenter's Top 10 plays.
In the final game of the trip, Dean, Elmer and Mekhi Cooper led all scorers with 15 points apiece. Cooper also brought in 10 rebounds to collect a double-double. Julian Lewis swiped a team-high three steals and Ipsaro notched seven assists, leading all RedHawks. The Red and White finished the game with a 104-67 victory to end the week 3-0.
