AKRON, Ohio-- After two days of competition at the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, the Miami University women continue to hold first place with 43.5 points, while the RedHawk men sit in fifth place with 35 total points.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- On the field, Ryan Smith finished in third place in the men's shot put event with 16.69 meters. Ben Riegel took sixth place with 15.83 meters. Â Â
- In the men's 100 meter dash prelims, Julian Wagner finished with a time of 10.67 and qualified for the finals tomorrow. In the men's 110 meter hurdle prelims, Eman Alfred finished with a time of 14.59 and will compete in Saturday's finals. Leo Bouldin finished with a time of 21.16 in the men's 200 meter dash prelims and qualified for the finals tomorrow. Bouldin also qualified for the 400 meter dash finals finishing with a time of 49.05. In the men's 400 meter hurdle prelim, Jacob Ranker (52.82), John Wetula (57.54) and Alfred (58.45) all qualified for the finals.
- In the men's 3000 steeplechase final, Charlie Harders defended his title from last year with a first-place time of 8:53.32, a new track record! Dan Conway (9:17.50) and Anton Martinez (9:26.66) also earned points in the event, coming in fifth and sixth place, respectively.
- In the women's 400 meter dash prelims, Abby Suszek (55.25) and Gabby Cossio (56.12) qualified for the finals tomorrow. Â
- In the women's 800 meter prelims, Nora Zubillaga finished with a time of 2:14.42 and qualified for the finals. In the women's 3000 steeplechase final, Carmen Riano finished with a time of 10:08.24 to win the event for the second consecutive year. Not only did Riano finish in first place, but she set a new track record! Julia Rushing (10:49.64) and Jenna Sayle (10:55.70) were right behind Riano, finishing in fifth and seventh place.
- On the field, Ella Rigel finished in fifth place in the women's hammer throw with 53.60 meters. In the women's shot put event, Santornya Ralliford finished in eighth place with 13.59 meters. Â Â
- In the heptathlon, Lisa Froberg came in 11th place and Kayla Walters was 12th.

The RedHawks conclude the MAC Championships Saturday, May 13 with field events starting at 10 a.m. and track events starting at 1 p.m.
