RedHawks Sweep Central Michigan After 7-2 Win

OXFORD, OHIO – The RedHawks completed a three-game sweep of Central Michigan University on Sunday afternoon after taking the final game of the series 7-2. Brianna Pratt picked up her 25th win of the season. The loss drops the Chippewas to 27-22 on the season and 17-9 in Mid-American Conference play. The win brings Miami to 32-17 overall and 19-7 in the MAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Central Michigan got the scoring started in the top of the first with a solo home run to grab a 1-0 lead.
Allie Cummins tied it up 1-1 for the RedHawks in the bottom of the first on a solo home run.
In the bottom of the second Miami took the lead 2-0 when Adriana Barlow crossed the plate on Maddi Banks' RBI single.
Jenna Golembiewski extended the lead to 4-1 on a two-run home run in the bottom of third to also score Holly Blaska.
Golembiewski increased the lead again for the RedHawks to 6-1 when she hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth to score Cummins and Blaska.
The Chippewas chipped away at the lead in the top of the sixth with a solo home run to cut the deficit to 6-2.
Kate Kobayashi answered in the bottom of the sixth with her second home run of the season to make it a 7-2 game.
The Chippewas could not come back from the deficit and the RedHawks won 7-2.

NOTES:

The RedHawks' defense made two double-plays thanks to Barlow at shortstop.
Cummins went 3-for-4 at the plate and Golembiewski went 2-for-3.
Pratt allowed only six hits and two walks. She struck out three, finishing the week 5-0.
