Miami in Third at MAC Championship

ATHENS, Ala. — The RedHawks have sole possession of third place after one round at the 2023 MAC men's golf championship at Canebrake Golf Club. Miami's Danny Fisher and Sam West are each in the top 10 on the leaderboard and are tied for second and sixth place, respectively, heading into day two.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Fisher shot one below par and made four birdies throughout the first round. He is tied for the best overall score on par fours and is just two strokes away from moving into first place overall.
  • West finished even with par on the day after recording two birdies and 15 pars. He was the tournament's only player to shoot above par on only one hole and tied for the most pars made among the entire 45-man field.
  • Jack Ebner tied for 16th place during day one after a round highlighted by five made birdies. He shot two above par.
  • Michael Weber and Brett Podobinski each finished four above par, tying for 30th individually. Each made three birdies during round one.
  • Miami's team score for the first round was 293, which is five above par. They are just two strokes behind first place Bowling Green State and Central Michigan. The RedHawks had the best average score (4.5) on par fives of all teams.
