INDEPENDENCE, Minn. — The RedHawks finished the Gopher Invitational in sixth place out of 15 teams with a score of 865, or 13 above par.
Brett Podobinski jumped up three places to lead the team with a score of 210, or three below par. Miami was the only program in the field to have multiple golfers place in the top eight on the leaderboard.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Podobinski (73-67-70=210) ended the tournament tied for fifth place, shooting five birdies in the last round. He ended the last round of the tournament with a birdie, shooting one below par for the day.
- Tyler Anderson (68-70-73= 211) shot two below par, ending the day in eighth place. He ended the day with four birdies.
- Cameron Pero (75-74-72=221) moved up 13 places to tie for 45th. He shot his lowest round of the tournament with a score of one above par.
- Michael Weber (73-74-78=225) ended the tournament tied for 59th place, shooting a 78 in his third round. He added a birdie in his final round on the eighth hole, ending the tournament with seven total birdies.
- Joseph Canitano (73-81-86=240) finished in 79th place, shooting an 86 in his final round, with a birdie on the 16th hole.
- Liam Nelson (71-75=146), Nate Vonderhaar (78-78=156), Michael Stagnaro (79-79=158) and Dean Upholzer (81-77=158) competed as individuals in the first day of the Pilgrim's Run Invite in Pierson, Mich. Nelson is currently tied for third at even par in that event.

The RedHawks will compete in the Canadian Collegiate Invitational from Sept 14-16 in MacTier, Ontario. Individual players will finish the Pilgrim's Run Invite in Pierson, Mich. tomorrow.
