OXFORD, Ohio – The RedHawks' offense took the final game of the series against the University of Akron on Sunday, with 11 hits. They accumulated 30 hits throughout the weekend.
Brianna Pratt earned the win in the circle. The win brings the RedHawks to 27-16 on the season and 14-6 in the Mid-American Conference. The loss drops the Zips to 25-20 on the season and 13-10 in MAC competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Riley Coyne got the scoring started early for the RedHawks in the bottom of the first, smashing one deep over center field to also score Allie Cummins and Chloe Parks to give Miami the 3-0 lead.
- In that same inning Adriana Barlow hit an RBI single that scored Shelby Kunkel and Jenna Golembiewski to up the RedHawks' first-inning lead to 5-0.
- In the bottom of the second Holly Blaska took the ball deep over center to grab a 2-run home run for herself and also score Cummins, increasing the lead to 7-0.
- In Coyne's second at-bat she hit another home run, which also scored Parks, and put the score at 9-0 in the second inning.
- Golembiewski then used her speed to score on an in-the-park home run in that same inning to make it a 10-0 game.
- Reagan Bartholomew then hit an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth to score Kate Kobayashi and put the score at 11-0.
NOTES:
- Coyne went 3-for-2 at the plate and secured five RBI.
- Barlow and Golembiewski went 2-for-2 batting.
- Pratt allowed only four hits in 4.0 innings and struck out two.
- In her 1.0 inning to close the game, Laurelai DePew allowed only one hit.
