Miami Splits Doubleheader Versus Western Michigan

OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University baseball team split a Mid-American Conference doubleheader against Western Michigan Sunday afternoon, falling 5-1 and winning 4-1. The RedHawks now stand at 7-22, 4-8 MAC, while WMU holds a record of 7-18, 4-5 MAC.

HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME ONE
- During the top of the second inning, Western Michigan took the advantage after hitting a two-run homerun. In the top of the fourth inning, the Broncos added another run to extend their lead to 3-0. Miami responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning. Zach MacDonald doubled into left field and brought in Zaborowski to bring the score to 3-1.
- The Broncos tacked on another two runs in the top of the ninth inning to make it a four-run game at 5-1. This was ultimately enough for the Broncos to take game one.

- MacDonald went 1-for-2, hit a double and recorded a RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED: GAME TWO
- In the bottom of the third inning, Ryland Zaborowski homered to left field and gave Miami a 1-0 advantage. The Red and White stretched their lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning after Blake Buzzeo recorded a single to right field that brought Tommy Harrison home.
- Western Michigan answered with a run in the sixth inning to trail 2-1. Zaborowski continued his hot hitting in the seventh inning, smacking a triple to bring David Novak home. Shortly after, a sacrifice fly out to left field from Parker Lester scored Zaborowski to bring the score to 4-1. This was enough for Miami to walk away with the second game of the doubleheader.
NOTES: NOTES GAME TWO
- Kenten Egbert allowed one earned run and struck out nine hitters.
- Zaborowski was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a homerun.
- Harrison matched his career-high three walks.
