Former Miami Hockey standouts Alec Martinez and Reilly Smith begin the Stanley Cup Playoffs this week with the Vegas Golden Knights, the champions of the NHL's Pacific Division. Smith ranks fourth on the Knights with 56 points this season (26-30-56) and recently became the first former Miami player to score 200 goals in the NHL, reaching the career milestone during Thursday's win over Seattle. Martinez has added 14 points (3-11-14) in 77 appearances. Both players lit the lamp in the regular-season finale to help Vegas clinch the division crown.

Martinez was a Second-Team West All-American for Miami and put up 67 points from 2005-2008 (21-46-67) with the Red and White. Smith is tied for ninth in Miami Hockey history with 66 goals and finished his RedHawk career (2009-12) with 122 points, which ranks in the top 30 all-time. He was a First-Team West All-American and Hobey Baker Award finalist in 2012.

The Golden Knights open their chase for the Stanley Cup with a best-of-seven series against Winnipeg. Game 1 is set for Tuesday, April 18 at 9:30 p.m. ET in Las Vegas, Nev. and will air on ESPN2.
