Miami Hockey Picked Fifth in NCHC Preseason Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— The National Collegiate Hockey Conference unveiled its preseason poll today, and the Miami RedHawks are ranked fifth in the poll behind a quartet of 2026 NCAA Tournament teams.

Miami received 175 votes in the poll, trailing only Denver, North Dakota, Minnesota Duluth and Western Michigan. The fifth-place spot is the highest the RedHawks have been predicted to finish since the 2017-18 preseason poll. With the addition of St. Thomas to give the conference 10 teams this season, the top five finishers in NCHC play will host a first-round playoff series.

After an 18-16-2 season a year ago (the program's best record since 2014-15), Miami will open the 2026-27 campaign on Friday, Oct. 2 at Northern Michigan.
