RedHawks Blank Bowling Green 9-0

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The 9-0 shutout win over Bowling Green State University on Tuesday afternoon went to Brianna Pratt in the circle. Pratt held the Falcons to just one run. The win for the RedHawks brings them to 21-14 on the season and 9-6 in the Mid-American Conference. The loss drops the Falcons to 8-25 overall and 1-12 in the MAC.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the top of the third inning Karli Spaid grabbed the 1-0 lead for the RedHawks with a solo home run.
  • The RedHawks doubled their lead 2-0 later in that inning when Kate Kobayashi scored on an RBI single from Holly Blaska.
  • Blaska hit an RBI double in the top of the fifth inning that would score Spaid and take the RedHawks' lead to 3-0.
  • In that same inning, Blaska scored on an RBI single from Jenna Golembiewski. Allie Cummins then scored on a single by Spaid to increase the lead to 5-0.
  • In the top of the seventh inning Cummins hit an RBI single that scored Maddi Banks. Spaid then followed that up with a three-run homer that also scored Cummins and Chloe Parks to make the score 9-0. This score would give the RedHawks the win.
 
NOTES:
  • Pratt had three strikeouts and allowed only one walk.
  • Spaid went 3-for-4 at the plate while Blaska went 2-for-3.
  • Parks, Spaid and Blaska had extra base hits.
  • Six RedHawks had one or more hits in the game.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks will face the Falcons again tomorrow, April 12 at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader in Bowling Green, Ohio.
