Pratt's Shutout Secures 8-0 Win Over Butler

OXFORD, OH – In the RedHawks' game against Butler University on March 8, Brianna Pratt had another dominant performance in the circle to hold the RedHawks over until the bats started working. The game was scoreless until Miami hit seven runs in the bottom of the fourth. The win brings Miami to 10-6 on the season and drops Butler to 4-18.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first three innings of play proved to be quite the pitcher's duel with no runs scored by either team, just two hits by the RedHawks, and only one from the Bulldogs.
  • The RedHawks got it started in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI single by Adriana Barlow where Logan Mueller scored, grabbing the 1-0 lead.
  • On the next hit, by Maddi Banks, both Shelby Kunkel and Barlow scored, tripling the lead 3-0.
  • Banks then scored on a sac RBI by Karli Spaid to increase the lead to 4-0.
  • The gap widened again when Allie Cummins hit a double to score Chloe Parks and Riley Coyne, making the score 6-0.
  • The Redhawks weren't satisfied with just six runs in a single inning, so they made it seven when Kate Kobayashi hit a back-to-back double to score Cummins, grabbing a 7-0 lead.
  • On an error in the bottom of the fifth, Shelby Kunkel scored so that the RedHawks could win the game in five innings, 8-0.

NOTES:
  • Pratt secured a 0.00 ERA with the shutout, allowing only 2 hits.
  • Both Kobayashi and Cummins hit doubles.
  • Six RedHawks hit RBI to help secure the win.

UP NEXT: The RedHawks will face Western Kentucky University in the first game of their three game series on March 11 at 2 p.m. in Bowling Green, Ky.
