BOWLING GREEN, Ohio — The Miami University baseball team dropped the opening game of a Mid-American conference series 5-2 at Bowling Green Friday afternoon. Miami is now 4-19 (2-5 MAC), while BGSU moves to 7-12, 3-4 MAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami opened the scoring in the fourth inning. Cooper Weiss singled with one out to get things started. After Zach MacDonald's double down the left field line, Parker Lester got Miami on the board with a single to right that scored both Weiss and MacDonald.
- The Falcons responded with a two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning to even the score at 2-2. BGSU took the lead in the seventh and then added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth to claim a 5-2 win.
NOTES
- Connor Oliver struck out seven Falcons in 6.1 IP, moving his season total to 57 (the second-highest mark in the nation).
- Lester finished 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI.
- Four different RedHawks stole a base, including Brian Zapp, who is now a perfect 10-10 in attempts on the year.
- Zapp and MacDonald each had a double.
