LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Miami University baseball team fell to No. 8 Louisville by a final score of 6-4 Wednesday. The RedHawks drop to 2-15 (0-3 MAC) while the Cardinals move to 15-1 (0-0 ACC).
The RedHawks brought the go-ahead run to the plate in both the eighth and ninth innings, but fell short against the eighth-ranked Cardinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Louisville got things started in the third inning by capitalizing on some walks, making it 1-0 Cardinals. They followed up in the fourth by tacking on two more runs to make it 3-0.

In the top of the fifth, Parker Lester homered to left center to put the RedHawks on the board and cut the deficit to 3-1.

Louisville added two insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 6-1 lead.

In the top of the eighth, Blake Buzzeo led off the inning with a walk. With one out in the inning, Ryland Zaborowski reached base with the second walk of the inning. Zach MacDonald followed up with a single through the left side. With the bases loaded, Cooper Weiss was hit by a pitch to force a run across. With the bases still full, Lester reached base on a fielder's choice. Zaborowski scored to make it 6-3 Cardinals.

In the top of the ninth with two outs, Evan Appelwick doubled down the left field line. Zaborowski followed up by reaching base via walk. MacDonald singled through the left side, scoring Appelwick. The RedHawks would load the bases and strand them in their late inning effort, as the game ended with a 6-4 scoreline.
