OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University baseball team ended its first conference series of the season with a 7-3 loss to visiting Toledo Sunday afternoon. The RedHawks' record slips to 2-14, 0-3 MAC, while the Rockets improve to 9-5, 3-0 MAC.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami evened the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI double by Dillon Baker. Baker drove in Brian Zapp, who had drawn a one-out walk and advanced 90 feet on a Tommy Harrison single earlier in the inning
- Toledo put up two runs in the third and three more in the fourth to take the lead.
- Trailing 6-1, the RedHawks produced a run in the fifth. Evan Appelwick singled to lead off the inning, with Parker Lester reaching on a fielder's choice. Cooper Weiss brought Lester home with a two-out double to left field to make it 6-2.
- Zach MacDonald brought Miami within 6-3 on a one-out solo homer to left in the bottom of the seventh inning.
- The Rockets concluded the scoring with an RBI double in the eighth to account for the 7-3 final.
NOTES
- Baker and Harrison each recorded multi-hit games for Miami.
- MacDonald homered for the second straight game and third time this week.
