OXFORD, Ohio — The Miami University baseball team scored one run apiece in the first two innings, but Toledo responded with four in the fifth and went on to post a 6-2 victory over the RedHawks Saturday afternoon.
Zach MacDonald homered for Miami (2-13, 0-2 MAC), while Owen Jackson and Mason Sykes went deep for the Rockets (8-5, 2-0 MAC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MacDonald hit a solo shot with two outs in the bottom of the first to give Miami an early 1-0 lead.
- The RedHawks struck again in the second inning to double their lead. Cooper Weiss led off with a single, moving to second base on a Tommy Harrison groundout. After Weiss stole third, an RBI single by Dom Magliocca brought him around to score.
- Toledo got on the scoreboard with a three-run homer by Jackson in the fifth and added a run on a two-out sac fly later in the inning.
- The Rockets added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth inning on a two-run blast by Sykes.
