Benji Brokemond scored three runs and drove in one for the RedHawks (0-5). Peyton Thomas and Andrew Knight homered for the Lions (2-3).
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Miami scored three runs in the opening inning without a base hit. Four RedHawks drew walks, including the first two hitters of the game, Brokemond and Zach MacDonald. A UNA error, a passed ball, and a fielder's choice each brought home a run for the visitors.
- The RedHawks struck again in the top of the second. Brokemond walked, stole second base, advanced on a balk and eventually scored on a wild pitch to give Miami a 4-0 lead.
- North Alabama responded with seven runs in the fourth inning and a pair in the fifth to go on top 9-4.
- Miami added two unearned runs in the sixth. Once again, Brokemond and MacDonald drew walks, with Brokemond coming around to score as Ryland Zaborowski reached on an error. Brian Zapp followed with an RBI groundout to plate MacDonald and make it 9-6.
- After the Lions stretched their lead with a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth, Miami got a run back in the seventh. Tommy Harrison led off with a walk, and Parker Lester followed with a single. Brokemond came through with a two-out base hit to bring Harrison around to score, cutting the UNA lead to 12-7.
NOTES
- Three different Miami players (Brokemond, MacDonald and Harrison) each walked three times.
- Carson Byers threw 1.1 scoreless innings in relief.
- The RedHawks' pitchers (Tyler Chadwick, Hudson Leach and Byers) combined to record 12 strikeouts.
- The series opener, which was originally slated for Friday afternoon, didn't start until 10:40 p.m. ET Saturday due to weather.

The RedHawks and Lions will continue their series with a doubleheader on Sunday, Feb. 26. First pitch is set for noon ET.
