ON TAP: The Miami University women's basketball team hits the road for a Wednesday tilt versus Eastern Kentucky. Opening tip is slated for 12 p.m.
ALWAYS REMEMBER YOUR FIRST: Head Coach Glenn Box recorded his first career win as head coach on Nov. 27 in a thrilling 58-57 overtime win over Xavier.
GREAT SCOTT: Senior Jadyn Scott currently leads the team in scoring (12.8) and rebounding (5.2). She has led the team in scoring in three of five games this season, including a career best 23 points at Louisiana at Monroe on Nov. 11.
IN WITH THE NEW: Head Coach Glenn Box and his staff brought in eight new players for the 2023-24 campaign. Joining the RedHawks are four transfers and four freshmen, including one from Spain and two from Canada.
EDWARDS EXPLOSION: After scoring five total points in Miami's first two games, freshman Lakresha Edwards has combined for 23 points over the past two contests. She had 14 points in the win over Xavier and added a team-high nine points at Michigan State. She is 7-for-13 from behind the arc over her past two games.
ABOUT EASTERN KENTUCKY: Eastern Kentucky is 7-1 on the season, including a perfect 4-0 record at home. Antwainette Walker leads the team in scoring (25.6) and is second in rebounding (4.8). EKU averages 83.1 points per game this season.
SERIES WITH EKU: The two schools have split the first 18 games of the series 9-9, including a 73-68 Miami victory last season at home.
MSU RECAP: After beating Xavier 58-57 in overtime on Monday, Nov. 27, the RedHawks most recently dropped an 89-44 decision at Michigan State. Lakresha Edwards and Núria Jurjo each had nine points for the Red and White, while Amber Tretter had a team-high eight rebounds.
YOUTH MOVEMENT: Head Coach Glenn Box has made a youth movement with the starting lineup the past two games. Senior Jadyn Scott was joined by freshmen Maddy Huhn, Amber Tretter, Lakresha Edwards and Núria Jurjo the past two contests in the starting lineup.
NEW IMPACT: Miami's newcomers have dominated the box score this season in points (214 of 255/84%), rebounds (132 of 152/87%), field goals made (83 of 98/85%) and minutes played (879 of 1025/86%).
TOP RETURNER: Junior Katey Richason entered the 2023-24 season as Miami's top returning scorer (3.9 points/game). After scoring in double-figures just three times in her first two seasons, Richason scored nine points at Vermont, and had her second career double-double (11 pts. and 11 rebs.) in the win over Xavier.
SISTER, SISTER: Twin sisters Jadyn and Jada Scott were four-year letter winners for the Cincinnati Bearcats before joining Miami. The duo combined to play in 194 games in their career at UC. Last season Jadyn was eighth on the team in scoring (3.6), while Jada was 11th (1.8). In their first year with the RedHawks the duo ranks first and seventh for Miami in scoring.
WOMAN OF STEAL: Since seeing a major increase in playing time, junior guard Cori Lard has made a living on the defensive side of the ball. She has nine steals over her past two games (missed MSU contest), including a career best five steals versus Western Kentucky.
