
Holmes Honored By Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame

NEW CASTLE, Ind.— Miami associate head coach Jonathan Holmes was named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 2024 Silver Anniversary Team today. Holmes was one of 18 men honored based on outstanding accomplishments as a high school senior basketball player 25 years ago.
Holmes, who represented Bloomington (Ind.) South High School, was the runner-up for Indiana Mr. Basketball in 1999. He was the recipient of the John Wooden Citizenship Award that year along with being a Nike High School All-American in the summer of 1998, a McDonald's All-American Nominee, a two-time first-team All-State honoree and an Indiana All-Star team honoree.
Holmes held the school and county record for career points (1,536) when he graduated from high school, as well as setting program records in career assists (382), three-pointers (237) and free throw percentage (.883). He was a four-time Bloomington Herald-Times all-region selection, playing for his father, J.R., Indiana's all-time winningest boy's high school basketball coach.
Holmes went on to play at the University of North Carolina, where he was part of the Tar Heels' 2000 Final Four team. He graduated in 2003 and went on to play professionally overseas for two seasons. He served as an assistant coach at the Division II and NAIA levels before Division I stops at William & Mary and then Elon. He joined the Miami Basketball staff in May 2022.
Holmes and the other 2024 Men's Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame's 62nd Men's Awards Banquet on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
A midday reception, free and open to the public, will be held at the Hall of Fame Museum in New Castle. The evening banquet will take place at the Primo Banquet Hall, which is located on the south side of Indianapolis. For more information, visit HoopsHall.com.
