Softball Inks Four

Kirin Kumar, coming off three-straight Mid-American Conference Championships, has announced four additions to the softball team. Lorin Boutte, Nathalie Hagle, Shelbie Krieger and Holly Merritt will join the team in time for the 2025 campaign.

"Our goal here at Miami softball is to not only continue to bring MAC Championships, but to go beyond," said Kumar. "Every year, we look for student-athletes that embody what Miami softball has built on and off the field and are willing to grind and put in the work to do things that have never been done before. These four embody Love & Honor and Graduating Champions and we welcome them to the Miami family."Â

Lorin Boutte, P, 5-8, R/R, St. Charles, Mo./Francis HowellHigh School:
- Currently attends Francis Howell High School
- Coached by Lexi Romeril
- Helped lead team to a Missouri State Championship in 2023
- Last season she recorded 174 strikeouts in 102 innings and hit .410 with 31 RBI
- In her junior season she had 214 strikeouts in 132 innings pitched and added a .368 batting average with 34 RBI
- She was named a Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year Finalist her junior season and added a conference and St. Louis Dispatch Metro Pitcher of the Year honor to her resume
- Was also named first-team all-state and first-team all-region as a pitcher

High School:
- Currently attends Lakeland High School
- Coached by Mike Cleary
- Four-time team captain
- Hit .415 as a junior with 44 hits, 14 home runs and 50 RBI
- Added an OPS of 1.447, earning first-team all-region and honorable mention all-state in 2023

Shelbie Krieger, P, 5-10, R/R, Rootstown, Ohio/Rootstown

High School:
- Currently attends Rootstown High School
- Coached by Paige Byers
- Was named Portage Trail Conference Player of the Year as a junior
- Finished junior campaign with a 1.29 earned-run average, recording 191 strikeouts in 86 innings pitched
- Owns school record for single season strikeouts, RBI and no-hitters and is the school's all-time strikeout leader.
- Also lettered in volleyball
