OXFORD, Ohio— Miami University volleyball coach Carolyn Condit announced today that she will retire after the 2023 season. Condit, who is in her 40
th season leading the RedHawks' program and 44
th season as a college head coach, has amassed 781 career wins in her legendary career. She is the longest-tenured current Division I head coach in the nation, and holds a 682-549 record at Miami since taking over the program in 1984. Condit has compiled more career wins than any coach in any sport in the history of Miami Athletics.
"My years at Miami have flown by and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to coach so many bright and talented young women at such a prestigious University. They have impacted my life more than they know," said Condit.
"And where education remains the number one priority and doing what is right truly matters, it has been a privilege to work for the many Presidents and Athletic Directors who uphold these high standards year after year. Love and Honor!"

"Carolyn has shaped, guided and motivated teenage girls into strong, independent, compassionate women who are proud to have played for her while representing the Red and White. We have taken the lessons learned as volleyball athletes under her tutelage and used those skills to become nationally-known doctors, lawyers, teachers, business women, entrepreneurs, engineers and fantastic, nurturing mothers," Gilbert said.
"On behalf of all of her former players, we express our gratitude for her impact and our congratulations on a well-deserved retirement."
Condit's Miami teams have captured nine regular-season MAC championships and made 13 postseason tournament appearances, including advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 1990, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2007, 2008, 2017 and 2018. Her program has won five MAC Tournament titles and made 12 MAC Tournament title appearances.
Condit has been named MAC Coach of the Year six times, most recently in 2018. She is the only volleyball coach in the history of the Mid-American Conference to win more than 300 league matches, holding a conference mark of 376-259.
Condit has coached her players to five MAC Player of the Year trophies, 83 All-MAC awards, 128 Academic All-MAC awards and six CoSIDA/CSC Academic All-America recognitions. Eight of her players (out of 13 volleyball players all-time) have earned induction into the Miami Athletic Hall of Fame.
Condit earned her Bachelor's degree in 1976 from Mount St. Joseph's and also owns a Master's Degree from Indiana University. She began her college coaching career with Xavier, where she produced a 99-80 record and led the Musketeers from Division III to Division II to Division I during her time there.
She was honored by Miami University in 2014 with the Kathy McMahon Klosterman Award at the inaugural Women in Leadership Symposium. In 2016, Condit was recognized by the Greater Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky Women's Sports Association with its Lifetime Service Award. Condit was inducted into Miami Athletics' Hall of Fame in 2001.

Tickets are available now for Condit's final regular-season home series at Millett Hall, which is set for Nov. 10-11 against Akron. The match on Friday, Nov. 10 begins at 6:30 p.m., with Saturday's first serve slated for 5 p.m.
Fans are invited to come celebrate Condit's 40-year career at Miami at the home finale on Saturday, Nov. 11, and a special postgame ceremony is planned. The RedHawks' final match of the regular season is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 15 at Bowling Green.
